47 Belgian children and 10 adults taking part in a snow class vomited during the night from Monday to Tuesday. Three of them were even hospitalized. The ARS is currently carrying out investigations to determine the origin of what appears to be poisoning.
Nearly fifty Belgian children and around ten adults vomited during the night of Monday January 15 to Tuesday January 16 in Saint-Nicolas-La-Chapelle in Savoie, BFMTV learned from ARS Auvergne -Rhône-Alpes, confirming information from France Bleu.
“The ARS is currently investigating a probable situation of collective toxic infection within a group of children from Belgium, currently accommodated in a holiday center in Savoie,” indicated the regional health agency.
Two children and an adult briefly hospitalized
According to our colleagues from France Bleu, the group of children and their companions – originally from Charleroi in Belgium – were taking part in a snow class.
“In this group made up of 225 people […] 47 children and 10 adults presented with vomiting,” specifies the ARS, “among them, 2 children and 1 adult were hospitalized for dehydration.”
The regional health agency specifies that these same people “have now left the hospital” and that their state of health is not worrying.
Analyzes in progress
If all the participants are now continuing their stay in France, the ARS specifies that investigations – carried out in conjunction with the departmental directorate for population protection – are currently underway.
“The DDPP will take samples tomorrow of the various foods and dishes consumed by the group” and “the ARS environment health service is also carrying out a check of the drinking water network distributed in the accommodation”, namely the center of the balconies of Mont-Blanc.
“The results of the various analyzes will be known in the coming days,” concludes the regional health agency.
Questioned by France Bleu, the president of the company managing the accommodation center indicates that he “will assume responsibility” if the poisoning comes from his establishment.
