He president Javier Milei will meet this Wednesday, January 17 with the head of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva, within the framework of the Davos Forum. Before, the top executive of the multilateral organization will hold a meeting with the Chief of Staff, Nicolás Posse, and the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo.
Within the framework of this relevant economic and business forum, Georgieva praised Milei’s reforms and asked for protection for the most vulnerable, hours before that meeting regarding which there is great expectation.
“So far so good”said Kristalina Georgieva a week following Argentina and the IMF reached a technical agreement to revive a credit program for $44 billion.
The number one of the International Monetary Fund recognized that “What this Administration is doing is very aggressively addressing some of the deficiencies that we all see”.
In Davos, Caputo and Posse met with the deputy director of the IMF to analyze the agreement
Afterwards, he delved into greater details regarding the problems faced by the Argentine State. “Fiscal: out of control; spending more than possible. Reserves: exhausted. “We are seeing progress on all those fronts,” she said optimistically when asked at a conference in Davos.
Georgieva said the IMF is concerned “deep“that Argentina protects its most vulnerable citizens as it moves forward with “very bold reforms.”
Posse and Caputo maintained this Tuesday a meeting with the deputy managing director of the Monetary Fund, Gita Gopinathwith whom they discussed the agreement reached with the organization, by which it is expected to release US$4.7 billion at the end of the month to increase Argentina’s reserves and pay imminent maturities with greater peace of mind.

Last week, the IMF concluded the mission that it held for 6 days in the country with multiple meetings between the technical staff of both parties, and ended with the readjustment of the payment agreement that Argentina maintains with the Fund following having it virtually terminated due to non-compliance with the goals.
After reconfiguring the new objective goals, and seeing the actions taken by the new administration, the IMF will unlock a larger-than-expected disbursement of US$4.7 billiononce approved by the Fund Board.
From the Ministry of Economy, they hope that this will happen in the next two weeks, in order to meet the maturities at the end of the month and the beginning of February with these funds.
