Dubai: Dubai Customs continues its successful journey and investment in modern technologies and artificial intelligence, with the aim of providing a smooth and pioneering customs experience for customers, as customers only need 10 seconds to obtain the coordinated code for the goods through the “Coordinated” initiative, which allows the customer to know all the information regarding the commodity and its description. The rate of customs duties on it and the status of prohibition and restriction, by entering the image of the commodity or its information through the smart application, which keeps pace with artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques.

Ahmed Al Kharousi, Director of the Customs Tariff and Origin Department at Dubai Customs, said: “The importance of the initiative is highlighted by the fact that it benefits customers in avoiding errors in customs data when declaring goods as a result of incorrect entry of the harmonized code for goods and products and avoiding customs violations and fines resulting from that. The percentage of Customer happiness with the initiative was more than 97%, and the “coordinator” won the Excellence and Innovation Award from the international “The Open Group” organization and the international “ICMG” organization, who confirmed that Dubai Customs is an example to be followed at the level of customs authorities in the world.”

The certificates and awards granted by international institutions in innovation are a success for Dubai Customs globally in innovating services that lead future transformations in the commercial sector, as the department works to stimulate and encourage innovation with the aim of developing smart and innovative initiatives, services and projects that serve customs work at the local and international levels, and achieve financial savings for the department. By reducing the costs of completing transactions, increasing operational efficiency to meet challenges, and enhancing the department’s ability to develop, continuously improve, and excel in a rapidly changing environment.
