The Colombian Caribbean coast has been the scene of extravagant stories that, at first glance, seem taken from magical realism, and that have come to deceive the rest of the country.
Among the stories that have circulated, the most recent and that has undoubtedly caused something to talk regarding on social networks, has been the Barranquilla woman who claimed to work on a film awarded a Golden Globe, only to later be denied.
Geraldine Fernández gained notoriety in recent days by spreading her alleged participation in The Boy and the Heron, an internationally recognized film by Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki. According to her statements, she would have been part of the film’s illustration team and she even claimed that she made 25,000 frames alone.
After the scandal and discovering that it had been a deception on the part of the woman, she said that “she had exaggerated.” This fact adds to other cases that have generated memes and ridicule regarding the situation in recent years.
