There were 844 births in Ried in 2023

At 6:36 a.m. on January 2nd, the late Ried New Year’s baby was born in the Hospital of the Sisters of Mercy Ried. Alma Marie weighed 3,275 grams at birth and was 51 centimeters tall.

Last year a total of 844 births were recorded – 437 boys and 413 girls (including six twins). Only 25 percent were born by caesarean section – a figure that has been consistently low for years and is below the Austrian average.

“A natural and safe birth in a safe atmosphere is our primary goal. As a specialist hospital, we offer comprehensive 24-hour care in obstetrics and in our children’s ward. This is an essential point in the care of newborns,” emphasizes Primary Minister Walter Dirschlmayer, Head of the department for gynecology and obstetrics at the Rieder specialist hospital. In the event of problems, the children’s department offers the necessary security with an infant monitoring station and specialist medical presence around the clock.
