Manuel Pascoal Cassinda, 27 years old, has been involved in a series of robberies at homes in the neighborhoods of the city of Lubango, with his preference being the robbery and theft of household appliances and butane gas bottles.
His agility in escaping from the National Police whenever wanted earned him the nickname “Bad Escorrega”, but this time he was unable to slip out of the hands of the officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (DIIP), assigned to the Municipal Command of Lubango. .
The Spokesperson for the Provincial Command of the National Police in Huíla, inspector Benedito Walter, said today that Bad Escorrega was captured inside his residence, in the Dr. António Agostinho Neto neighborhood, when it was around two o’clock in the morning.
“Bad Escorrega was arrested in the early hours of the 12th of the current month and year, through arduous investigative work carried out by DIIP staff in the municipality of Lubango. Robberies, robberies using bladed weapons (do it) in homes and on public roads weigh heavily on him,” he said.
Benedito Walter clarified that upon arrest, the Police recovered from his possession a 32-inch plasma TV, two butane gas cylinders, among other means robbed in an apartment in the aforementioned neighborhood.
“In preliminary interrogation, the highly dangerous man confessed to committing certain crimes, including home robberies, robberies and theft of various goods in the dead of night and on public roads. In view of the situation, the Police in Lubango drew up a file so that it might be forwarded to the Guarantee Judge for the legalization of his arrest”, he guaranteed.
