The opulent media satire “Succession”, the restaurant series “The Bear – King of the Kitchen” and the social satire “Beef” dominated the 75th US television awards Emmy ceremony in Los Angeles on Monday (local time). The three productions each won the most important awards in the areas of drama, comedy and miniseries. “Succession” ended this year following four seasons and prevailed in the premier category once morest seven competitors.
At the awards ceremony, the series regarding a declining family empire also won awards for best actor Kieran Culkin and best actress Sarah Snook, among others. “The Bear” won best comedy series of the year, in addition to five awards in comedy categories. Jeremy Allen White won best actor in a comedy series for his portrayal of a successful chef who takes over a fast-food sandwich restaurant following his brother’s death. Ebon Mass-Bachrach as family friend “Cousin Richie” won best supporting actor, Ayo Edebiri was named best supporting actress. Christopher Storer won awards for best direction and best screenplay. Best Actress in a Comedy went to Quinta Brunson from the school series “Abbott Elementary” – no one from “The Bear” was nominated in this category.

The social satire “Beef” won in five categories, including “Best Miniseries, Anthology and TV Movie.” The two main actors Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, as well as Lee Sung Jin, also received awards in Los Angeles for best direction and best screenplay in a miniseries. In ten episodes, “Beef” tells the story of two strangers who get into increasingly aggressive arguments following a car accident.
At the Emmys, prizes are awarded separately for drama, comedy and mini-series, and entertainment programs are also honored. In total, there are around 120 categories in the world’s most important television awards. The 75th Emmy Awards were postponed for a few months due to the writers and actors strike in Hollywood.
