Lucknow: The pujas ahead of the Ayodhya Ram temple consecration ceremony will begin today. The dedication ceremony will finally take place on the 22nd of this month following a week-long ceremony. A fourth Shankaracharya has also come forward with allegations that Prime Minister Narendra Modi misused the temple to play politics.
Today, the dedication ceremonies in Ayodhya will begin with propitiation ceremonies. Ganapati Puja will be held tomorrow and Mandapa Puja on 18th. Elaborate preparations have been made in Ayodhya for the dedication ceremony, which will be attended by regarding 7,000 people. Preparations have also been completed in the tent city of Ayodhya. On the 20th, the sanctum sanctorum will be cleansed in the holy water of various rivers and on the 21st, the Aarat of the Lord Rama idol will be performed.
Even though the preparations have been completed, there are criticisms from the religious scholars that push the central government and the BJP to be more defensive. Shankaracharya of Jyotish Peeth Avimukteswarananda Saraswati clarified that apart from Shankaracharyas of Puri, Dwarka and Sringeri Maths, they will boycott the function. I have not received an invitation to the Ram Temple dedication ceremony.
In an interview to The Wire, Avimukteswarananda Saraswathi said that if he gets an invitation, he will go but will not participate in the event. He also supported the opinion of the other three Shankaracharyas that performing prana pratishtha in an incomplete temple is once morest religious faith. Modi politicized the Shankaracharya temple, reminding us that breaking religious rules to promote one’s name is rebellion once morest God.
The BJP defended the criticism leveled by the Shankaracharyas of Puri, Dwarka and Sringeri Maths by arguing that Shankaracharya of the Jyotish Peeth also supported Prana Pratishtha. However, Avimukteswarananda Saraswathi’s interview proves BJP’s claims wrong.
