Lack of sleep would be particularly harmful for people in their 30s and 40s. Indeed, these affected people would be more likely to develop cognitive problems later.
This is shown by a recent study published in the journal Neurology of the American Academy of Neurology.
Nadia Gosselin, neuropsychologist, professor and scientific director of the center for advanced studies in sleep medicine at the Sacré-Cœur Hospital in Montreal, dissects the impacts of this phenomenon, Sunday, at the microphone of Élisabeth Crête.
“In the study what they looked at was whether the sleep was of quality, and whether people moved a lot, tossed and turned a lot, woke up often during their sleep. And this is specifically what was associated with a slowdown in tasks,” underlines Nadia Gosselin.
