EPP under Weber must finally end cooperation with right-wing extremist parties
Brussels (OTS) – After today’s appearance by EPP chairman Manfred Weber in the ORF press hour with Hans Bürger and Eva Linsinger, Thomas Waitz, Green EU MP and co-chair of the European Green Party, locates some linguistic smokescreens: “Manfred Weber sounds am Sunday on ORF is different than the rest of the week in the European Parliament. The EPP under Manfred Weber has broken the cordon sanitaire by cooperating with the right-wing extremist ID and right-wing ECR and is doing everything in its power to prevent progress in environmental protection.”
Most recently, the European People’s Party, under the leadership of Manfred Weber, forged an alliance with the right-wing extremist parties in the European Parliament in order to water down or completely water down important measures in climate and environmental protection such as the law for the restoration of nature, pesticide reduction and laws for forest and soil protection to prevent.
Waitz also sees no clear statements in the areas of asylum and migration, further development of the EU and defense policy: “Weber is on the far right when it comes to asylum and migration and apparently doesn’t know how to deal with despots like Orban. Under the leadership of Manfred Weber, the European People’s Party is no longer a reliable pro-European partner,” said Waitz in the direction of the EPP boss.
