More than 150 companies in Israel began a 100-minute strike, in solidarity with the hostages still being held in the Gaza Strip following 100 days of war.

The companies participating in the strike include the well-known fast food chain McDonald’s, Meta Israel, the Jewish Agency for Israel, and others, according to the Times of Israel.

The short strike also included more than 100 clothing and home goods chains, such as Fox Home, Billabong, and Golf Co.

Universities and schools across Israel also participated in the strike, temporarily halting studies.

During a rally in Tel Aviv on Saturday, thousands of Israelis expressed “pain and solidarity with the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.”

In a place near the strike site, a reconstructed tunnel was also uncovered in a city square, similar to the tunnels inside which Hamas is believed to be holding hostages.

About 240 people were taken hostage during the Hamas attack on October 7, according to Israel, which said that more than 100 of them were still in Gaza, while 25 of them were confirmed dead.

About 100 hostages were released during a truce at the end of November, in exchange for Israel releasing Palestinian prisoners, under an agreement brokered by Qatar.
