Dr. Concepción Quiñones de Longo, is a retired pediatrician and former medical director of VOCES, she worked for 40 years with the School of Medicine of the University of Puerto Rico and in the Department of Pediatrics of the alma mater.
He also assisted the Puerto Rico Department of Health with pediatric centers for children with special needs and hospital accreditation. Her role in medicine is strongly marked by improving the quality of life of children from a health standpoint and helping women prevent and diagnose Human Papillomavirus in time (HPV).
Her time at VOCES and the experience of Rhaiza Vélez Plumey
Dr. Quiñones highlights that during her work at VOCES she was able to learn the story of Rhaiza Vélez Plumey, who motivated her to work with the Las Voces de Rhaiza movement, to achieve the education of Puerto Rican girls, families and women in the prevention of cancer. associated with the Human Papillomavirus in Puerto Rico.
“We remember Rhaiza as an example of a woman who advocated for the health of young Puerto Rican women,” said Dr. Quiñones in an exclusive interview for Revista Medicina y Salud Pública.
