Florida Gators Basketball Dominates Arkansas in SEC Play: Game Recap and Player Highlights

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – The Florida Men’s Basketball team secured their first big win in SEC play over Arkansas in Gainesville. The Gators beat the Razorbacks 90-68 in dominant fashion. Coming off an ugly 18-point loss to Ole Miss Wednesday night, UF proved they are still a competitive team beating Arkansas by over 20 points.

The Gators started the game off strong and never looked back. Florida went on an impressive 22-2 run over the ensuing 6:41 in the first half. Florida led by 13 points, 46-33. However, the real test would begin following halftime.

Florida has struggled to keep the momentum up in the second half this season. Florida proved that this game would be different right out of the gate. The Gators maintained their elite performance. They extended the lead to 23 which allowed the Gators to cruise to the much-needed blowout win.

The UF team played dynamic all-around. Riley Kugel proved he was back to playing at an elite level. He provided the spark Florida was missing. The sophomore found a rhythm early in the game with a dominant offensive performance. His high-level scoring skillset returned to full form as he played with precision and intention. Kugel finished with a team-high 20 points, five rebounds, one block and two steals.

Tyrese Samuel had a solid game. He finished with a team-high 11 rebounds, 17 points, and one assist. Alex Condon was the anchor in the team’s defensive showing. He tallied 10 rebounds and three blocks.

Will Richard made his presence on the court known throughout the entire game. After only scoring five points once morest Ole Miss and two once morest Kentucky, he was due for a solid game. He finished with 13 points, two rebounds including three banked in three-pointers.

Guards Zyon Pullin and Walter Clayton Jr. continued to dominate per usual. Pullin finished with 15 points and eight assists while Clayton Jr. finished with 11 points and three assists.

The Gators will look to keep the momentum going when they hit the road Tuesday night. Florida will travel to Knoxville to play the No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers.
