SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Union College women’s swimming and diving team split a tri-meet with Hartwick College and Springfield College on Saturday followingnoon. Union defeated Hartwick 134-130, but fell to Springfield 184-87.
Union opened the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Union’s team of sophomore Sasha Malik, junior Molly Miller, first-year Chloe Matthews, and sophomore Alison Silver finished in 2:00.21.
First-year Jessica Konsky placed third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.69, only .23 off from the second-place finisher.
Malik added a close third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.68 and went on to take third-place in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:20.17.
Junior Ally Gowern finished the 200-yard butterfly in 2:25.59. Gowen added a pair of second-place finishes in the 200-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard IM with times of 2:41.41 and 2:27.32, respectively.
Matthews placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.59.
First-year Ella Bouvier recorded a third-place finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:28.74.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team closed the meet on a high note with a second-place finish with a time of 1:49.14. Unions team was made up of junior Kristina Valenti, Matthews, Silver, and senior Emily Langlois.
Union returns home on Saturday to host Middlebury at Alumni Gym Pool. The first event is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
