Dozens of people were camping in a place called Toldas, at kilometer 17, 2 hours from Quibdó, on the road that leads to Medellín, they were trapped underground following a landslide around 4 in the followingnoon on Friday, January 12 .
The heavy rains caused several landslides so people might neither move forward nor turn back, which meant that they spent hours in a long line of vehicles, so they decided to get off and wait in a house in this place.
There were more than 60 people in the house, according to a witness who survived the emergency, the majority were children and women; This was evidenced in a video that captures the moments of life of the victims moments before the landslide.
From one moment to the next, the earth began to fall away and a part of the mountain collapsed, covering everything in its path: vehicles, people and the home with all the citizens waiting inside.
This was the exact moment of the large-scale collapse that would have claimed the lives of at least 10 people on the Quibdó – Medellín road, in the Toldas sector, in Carmen de Atrato, #Choco.
