Dazzling Start to 2024: Daniel Tosi and the Perpignan Catalonia Symphony Orchestra Take Viennese Music to New Heights

What a dazzling start to 2024! It was on a hell of a train that Daniel Tosi took the Perpignan Catalonia Symphony Orchestra and the public into a sumptuous gallop, his ingenious orchestrations sublimating the musical performances of his virtuoso musicians to the point of transporting the spectators to the heart of the Vienna Opera. Nearly 300 enthusiasts had taken over the Notre-Dame-des-Anges church, the nave, its transept, nestled in each chapel, on the steps… Without ambiguity, the conductor opened the ball with a piece of circumstance, Loving, Drinking and Singing by Strauss, to a lively rhythm to end in apotheosis with the prestigious Radetsky March chanted by an audience united in enthusiasm and emotion. Diego Tosi, a devilish soloist, captivated hearts with his virtuoso interpretation of the solos, true pieces of bravura with gypsy accents from the compositions of Ravel, Tzigane, the Bohemian Airs of Sarasate or La Ronde des Lutins by Bazzini. The Viennese waltzes have retained all their charm of yesteryear, without a wrinkle, interpreted with nuance, with delicacy with a liveliness with accents obviously imbued with the “Tosi” seal.
