Office of Disease Prevention and Control 12, Songkhla Province (SKOR.12 Songkhla) joins in the campaign for Ratchapracha Samasai Week. Between 15-21 January 2024 under the concept of “Accelerating the elimination of leprosy. Aiming for freedom from leprosy in 2027,” emphasizing “Leprosy can be cured. Know quickly and treat quickly. Disability can be prevented.”
Dr. Chalermphon Osotpromma, Director of the Disease Prevention and Control Office 12, Songkhla Province, said that the leprosy situation in Thailand is trending downward. In 2022, there were 186 patients in the country’s treatment registry. 73 new cases for Health Area 12 (information as of December 15, 2023). There are 50 patients in the treatment register, including 26 new patients and 6 disabled patients who can see with the naked eye. These new patients is in Narathiwat Province: 6 cases (2 disabled), Pattani 13 cases (3 disabled), Songkhla 3 cases, Satun 2 cases (1 disabled), and 1 case found in foreign workers in Phatthalung Province and 1 case in Yala Province.
