Free E-Prescription App for iOS and Android: Easy Registration with NFC Health Card

The e-prescription app is available free of charge for iOS and Android. Anyone who starts the smartphone app for the first time must initially register there for free. The easiest way to do this is to use an NFC-enabled health card.

You can tell whether your card has this function by the small contactless logo at the top and the six numbers under the German colors of the health card. The sequence of numbers is the so-called “Card Access Number” (CAN).

In addition to this CAN, you need the associated PIN number. Insured persons who do not have the NFC card or PIN can request one from their health insurance company. If you have both ready, all you need to do is hold the card close to your smartphone for a few seconds.

Alternatively, you can also register using an additional app from your health insurance company. To register via the health insurance company’s app, you must select the relevant health insurance company from the list in the e-prescription app and the app will then redirect you to the health insurance company’s app. After you have selected permission for both apps there, you can use the e-prescription app.
