United Nations: UN Security Council Condemns Yemen’s Houthi Attacks on Ships in Red Sea In the 15-member Security Council, Algeria, China, Mozambique and Russia abstained from voting.
While 11 countries voted in favor of the resolution presented by the United States and Japan, none voted once morest it. Russia proposed an amendment but it was not accepted. Algerian Ambassador Amar Bintjama said that we cannot stand with the resolution that forgets the killing of more than 23,000 civilians in Gaza.
The resolution calls for the Houthis to immediately end attacks affecting global trade and to continue diplomatic efforts to prevent the escalation of the conflict.
