A diamond larger than the planet Neptune orbits in a star system 4,000 light-years away. The “clunker” represents the remnant of a white dwarf star, formed in the extreme environment of a rapidly rotating superdense neutron star. Although our solar system does not have such exotic conditions, we can at least boast a rain of diamonds.
