A Kensington also announced news for its portfolio at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024. Among the big highlights is a new Thunderbolt 5 dock capable of transferring files at speeds that can reach up to 120Gbps — which is 3x the speed supported by Thunderbolt 4 technology.

According to the company, the SD5000T5 Thunderbolt 5 Dock It also features the provision of 140W of power — which is at least 40W more than the capacity of most docks currently on the market — and support for up to two external 8K monitors at 60Hz.

The big challenge, of course, will be finding devices compatible with Thunderbolt 5 technology, which is still being introduced on the market. As well highlighted the Cult of MacMacs are expected to gain support this year — which might certainly help popularize the new feature.

Kensington also announced the SD4880Pa 17-in-1 USB-C dock with support for Thunderbolt 4 and 3. With data transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps, the device has four USB-C ports, six USB-A, two HDMI, two DisplayPort, one Ethernet, one for SD card and one audio connector.

Finally, there is also the SD4781P and the SD4782P, docks that have two HDMI 2.0 ports, two DisplayPort 1.2, one Gigabit Ethernet, one USB-C port and five USB-A. Allowing you to connect accessories at speeds of up to 10Gbps, both docks provide up to 100W of charging power.

The SD5000T5 is expected to be launched in the second half of the year, while the SD4880P, SD4781P and SD4782P are expected to arrive in the first half of this year.
