“Getting the internal democracy of the Brussels Socialist Party back on track.” This, among other things, is the desire announced by Catherine Moureaux (PS) on the Bx1 airwaves and in the columns of Le Soir for her political return, following more than two months of absence. For the mayor of Molenbeek, there are “bad apples” within the Brussels PS, and even Molenbeek, “this is something we are going to work on”.
Her altercation with alderman Abdellah Achaoui, relations with the president of the Brussels federation Ahmed Laaouej whom she considers “not to know if he supports me”, the departure in cries and anger of Rachid Madrane from the congress when he was announced that he would not draw the regional list in 2024 (Catherine Moureaux also asked Ahmed Laaouej to “repair” the relationship with Madrane who still accumulated 10,000 votes in the last election): these are the main themes of the winter return of the socialist.

In addition, and because some had sowed doubt, the socialist clearly stated that she would make her re-election her “fight for 2024”. However, she does not hide the difficulty of moving forward in her commune, including with Alderman Achaoui. “If I still want to work with him? It will be up to the PS to manage that.” As a reminder, the left party’s vigilance commission initially decided in favor of a suspension of Achaoui and a call to order for Moureaux according to Le Soir. This was without counting on the renewal of this vigilance commission with new faces, and the suspension of the said decision in favor of mediation led by Karine Lalieux and Rudi Vervoort. This suspension, some internally claim that it comes from strong pressure from the regional president, Ahmed Laaouej, who nevertheless denies any involvement.
Still on Molenbeek, the socialist argued on Bx1 that “it works with the MR”, and this despite strong opposition from the PTB “and from El Khannouss who has nothing to lose, who is in scorched earth”.
