L’Olympique Lyonnais formalized this Wednesday the arrival of Malick Fofana, young 18-year-old Belgian striker from La Gantoise. The amount of the transfer amounts to 17 million euros in compensation, to which can be added 5 million euros in bonuses. There is also a 20% interest on any future capital gains with the player.

Malick Fofana becomes Olympique Lyonnais’ most expensive recruit during the Textor era and is the eleventh in the entire history of the Rhone club. Born in Aalst, Belgium, Malick Fofana joined the KAA La Gantoise training center at the age of 9. He made his first team debut in January 2022, aged 17.
A versatile player, capable of playing at the forefront of the attack or on the wings, Fofana played 64 matches with La Gantoise, for 5 goals and 10 assists. He is also a Belgian Espoirs international. This transfer is a significant blow for OL, who are seeking to regain their former glory following a catastrophic start to the season in Ligue 1.
