The overall World Cup leader from the USA, who was recently ailing in Kranjska Gora, announced on Tuesday via social media that she would take it easy and only want to get back into the action on January 16th at the slalom in Flachau. Two Super-Gs and one downhill are scheduled for Zauchensee.
Shiffrin clearly leads the overall World Cup before the races in Salzburg following five wins this season with 929 points, ahead of Petra Vlhova (SVK/722) and Federica Brignone (ITA/697).
“I’m definitely disappointed to have to miss Zauchensee because it was a big goal of mine to ride the track once more – it’s such a cool combination of fun and challenge – but I’m not able to do that at the moment to attack,” explained the American, who now has 93 World Cup victories.
