Keitlyn Dever is described as one of the most talented actresses of her generation. She was born on December 21, 1996 in the United States and played Amy in Fora de Série (2019), Marie Adler in Unbelievable (2019) and Jayden in the feature Temporary 12 (2013).
Her most recent role was last year as Brynn in Nobody Will Save You (2023), which reportedly caught the attention of the showrunners of HBO’s The Last of Us. On PlayStation, she played Cassie Drake, the daughter of Nathan Drake in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

According to the series’ creators, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, the casting process for the second season was identical to that of the first, looking for high-quality actors who can embrace the essence of the characters from the source material.
Mazin and Druckmann say that nothing matters more than talent, adding that they are excited to see Kaitlyn playing Abby alongside Pedro, Bella and other talented actors who make up the HBO production.
Without going into spoilers, Abby is one of the most controversial characters in The Last of Us Part II. She can be controlled in some parts of the game and has a brutal story that bothered a lot of people.

Update (08/18/2023) – GS
The Last of Us was one of the most acclaimed television productions this year, which made expectations for the second season even greater. Unfortunately, due to the actors and screenwriters’ strike in Hollywood, production of the new season had to be stoppedwithout a forecast for its resumption.
Anyone who has played the games in The Last of Us series knows that one of the biggest highlights of the second part is the arrival of Abby, a character linked to another character from the first part who, for a very specific reason, crosses Ellie’s path and becomes one of his greatest enemies.
Considering Abby’s importance, even more so when we take into account that the girl is also a kind of protagonist of the second part of the game, many wonder who the actress chosen to play her will be.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, producer Craig Mazin hinted that they have already cast the actress.
The strike stopped our plans. Things were underway. Look, Abby was the first role we wanted to tackle. We have a good track record of making big casting announcements and people reacting with “Really?” which is something that will probably continue to happen. So people might not like it, but I think we’ve got it right so far and the public seems to feel we’ve got it right and the Academy seems to feel we’ve got it right.
Although vague, Mazin’s statement seems to indicate that Abby’s actress will not be identical to the character in the games, which is not a problem if her personality, origin and motivations are maintained.
As always, we have to wait for more information, but anxiety is certainly high.

Pre-production on the second season of The Last of Us had to be paused due to the writers’ strike in Hollywood.
In search of fairer salaries for screenwriters, the Screenwriters Union of America ordered all professionals in the field to go on strike until the studios and streaming platforms decide to meet the requests. So far, productions such as the Marvel Studios film Blade and the fifth season of Stranger Things have also been affected by the strike.

According to Variety, The Last of Us showrunners were making casting preparations for the series’ second season when production was put on pause.
According to sources familiar with the project, so far, the casting team has asked the actors to read excerpts taken directly from the game The Last of Us Part 2, which will serve as the basis for the second season of the series, during the auditions, already that there are still no scripts for the series itself.
The second season is expected to begin recording early next year. Previously, actors Pedro Pascal (Joel) and Bella Ramsey (Ellie), along with series co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, suggested that filming would begin in the coming months.
Just like the first season, the second season of the series is expected to be filmed in Canada, although some reports indicate that they will not film in Calgary, Alberta, using Vancouver as the setting.
Earlier this month (before the strikes themselves began), Mazin told the LA Times that he remembers “very distinctly how it all went down in 2007” (referring to the previous strike), but that this was different, as “even the companies understand on a fundamental level that they screwed things up.”
The writer and creator continued, “It’s almost as if someone finally pointed to them and said, ‘You just destroyed the foundation of your own house and now everything is crumbling around you.’
They know they need to fix it too… I think this is one of those moments where even companies know, ‘Okay, we’ve gone too far.’
For now, we still do not have an agreement between the union and the studios to declare an end to the strike.
Will other films and series also have to be stopped?
