Successful C 3 business talk event by SalzburgerLand Tourismus with state secretary Susanne Kraus-Winkler as guest of honor
Vienna (OTS) – The diverse winter sports ski region of SalzburgerLand, new tourism and mobility concepts, the promotion of young skiers and youth and the major international ski events World Cup Finals 2024 and FIS Ski World Championships 2025 in Saalbach were the focus of the first C 3-BUSINESS TALKS in the new year, yesterday on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 in the Management Club Vienna.
State Governor Deputy Mag. Stefan Schnöll, ski and TV star Alexandra Meissnitzer, SalzburgerLand tourism boss Leo Bauernberger, MBA and Manuel Hirner, MBA, managing director of BBSH Bergbahnen Saalbach-Hinterglemm gave an outlook on the exciting tourism and skiing years 2024 and 2025.
The State Secretary for Tourism in the Federal Ministry of Labor and Economic Affairs, Mag. Susanne Kraus-Winkler, MRICS, addressed greetings on behalf of the Federal Government to around 80 guests from business, industry, politics, media and tourism. The business talk was moderated by long-time ORF star reporter and foreign correspondent Dr. Roland Adrowitzer. The event was organized by Axel Ganster (Managing Director PR:AG) and Thomas Prantner (Managing Director C 3).
Statement from State Secretary Mag. Susanne Kraus-Winkler, MRICS
“Austria can only remain competitive as a tourism destination in the future if we successfully promote sustainability in all its dimensions: This starts with employee satisfaction, the acceptance of tourism by the population and right up to resource- and environmentally friendly tourism. This is the only way long-term success will be possible.”
Statement of the Deputy State Governor Mag. Stefan Schnöll
“Salzburg is one of the top tourism providers in the Alpine region and scores with great tourism businesses, high quality, reliability and hospitality as well as our scenic diversity. We focus on the topic of sustainable tourism and take many measures to make your visit as CO2-neutral as possible. With the Ski Card = Public Transport Card campaign, for example, public travel to several ski areas is integrated free of charge. The mountain railways throughout the state make a decisive contribution to climate protection. The electricity for operation and snowmaking is largely produced in-house, alternative forms of drive for snow groomers are used and we invest an enormous amount of money to ensure a well-developed ski bus operation in the tourist areas. This means that guests have the opportunity to leave their car at the accommodation and take advantage of what is available on site,” says LH Deputy. Stefan Schnöll.
Statement ski and TV star Alexandra Meissnitzer
“The upcoming major ski events – the World Cup finals in 2024 and especially the World Ski Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm in 2025 – offer the Salzburg region a great opportunity to present its most beautiful side to the world. It is extremely important to set an international benchmark for a professionally organized and at the same time modern, sustainable World Ski Championships with new concepts and innovative ideas. This is of great importance for the entire region, for Salzburg and for the future of skiing in Austria.”
Statement from SalzburgerLand Tourism Director Leo Bauernberger, MBA
In his statement, managing director Leo Bauernberger presented several priorities that are particularly important for tourism in Salzburg:
In the tourism strategy of the state of Salzburg, sustainability is enshrined as one of four pillars of the long-term development and success of the tourism sector. Since arrival and departure account for three quarters of the CO2 footprint of a holiday trip (source: WTO), it is crucial for the managing director of the SalzburgerLand Tourismus Gesellschaft (SLTG), Leo Bauernberger, to focus on the mobility of the guests. “In this context, the SLTG cooperates with the major rail transport providers in the local markets, Deutsche Bahn and ÖBB. But we have also created an exciting offer for ski holidaymakers from Sweden and Denmark with the Scandinavian railway provider Snälltaget.”
Important for guests from Vienna and Eastern Austria: There are currently 66 train connections from Vienna to Salzburg per day. On the weekends between December and April, there are three additional direct connections from Vienna to the Salzburg ski areas, including St. Johann, Gastein, Zell am See and Saalfelden-Leogang. “Together with the Salzburg holiday regions, we put together attractive offers for a holiday with a train journey, both in winter and summer.”

Statement Manuel Hirner, MBA, Managing Director BBSH Bergbahnen Saalbach-Hinterglemm
“Saalbach is ideally prepared for the 2025 World Ski Championships, which is of great importance to us – not only from a sporting perspective, but above all for the regional economy and all of our partners. Skiing is in our DNA – we already held a very successful World Ski Championships in 1991 and want to continue this tradition with a top event in 2025. When implementing it, we particularly value the 3 pillars of sustainability: a reasonable balance of ecological, economic and social components.
The 2025 World Ski Championships offers all ski fans the unique opportunity to follow the races and competitions directly from the ski slopes and, in between, to ski on our wonderful slopes in the wonderful mountain world, as the ski circuit also rotates during the World Championships. Saalbach will be in the international spotlight in 2025 and we are very much looking forward to this challenge so that we can continue to generate positive effects for our region following this major event.”
