The Mediterranean Pharmaceutical Federation, a union of pharmacists in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, has been distributing flyers in pharmacies in the Alpes-Maritimes since the beginning of January to alert patients to the shortage of medicines, reports France Bleu Azur on Tuesday January 9 . This flyer appears in the form of a letter that they can sign to directly challenge Emmanuel Macron.
“This flyer is like a postcard already pre-filled, so that the patient can alert the President of the Republic of the problem they are currently experiencing”explains Emmanuel Hess, pharmacist in Nice and representative of the Alpes-Maritimes pharmacists’ union.
Nearly 67,000 flyers distributed
Among the drugs that are missing, Emmanuel Hess explains that‘”there really is everything this winter”. “The most complicated thing was the antibiotics and cortisone, medicines for the prostate”he specifies, before adding that these shortages also concern drugs for serious treatments.
I regularly have problems with the supply of cancer therapy drugs and triple therapy, it affects all areas.

The union is calling in particular for an increase in the prices of medicines “to be able to get past the waiting lists of certain countries which have already increased prices, for example Germany. The drop in the price of medicines cannot be the only variable for adjusting the Security gap social because the counterpart is that manufacturers will prefer to sell them elsewhere”, explains Emmanuel Hess. In total, 67,000 flyers must be distributed in pharmacies in the Alpes-Maritimes by the Mediterranean Pharmaceutical Federation.
