Finance Minister Brunner was traveling too fast: he lost his driver’s license

As the “Kurier” initially reported, the department head in Vorarlberg was traveling too fast in his private life. Brunner apologized in a written statement.

The finance minister was on his way to a private appointment and overlooked a temporary speed limit, his office said in response to an APA request. The incident happened on Saturday morning outside the local area. Brunner was traveling in his official BMW 7 Series, which ministers can also use privately. According to “Vorarlberger Nachrichten” (vn.at), Brunner was stopped on the Rhine Valley Motorway (A14) by a civilian patrol in the area of the Dornbirn-Süd junction. There is a speed limit of 80 km/h when it rains. An alcohol test was not carried out given the time of day (9:00 a.m.) and because – according to the ministry – there were no relevant suspicions.

A driving license will be revoked for four weeks if the speed limit outside the local area is exceeded by at least 50 km/h.
