Biomitech, specializing in air purification using microalgae, will present two devices at CES in Las Vegas (United States) from January 9 to 12. Called BioUrban 1 and 2, the Aix-en-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône) company plans to market them in 2024. “With BioUrban 1, we are aiming for the interior purification of offices, open space, hotels, restaurants, housing 25 to 30 people, from a module which only occupies 1 m² on the ground and 1.80 m² highexplains the manager, Franck Schenaerts, CEO and partner of Biomitech. BioUrban 2 has a dual function of indoor/outdoor purification. It measures 4.20 meters high for 6 m² on the ground, and is intended more for air pollution control in urban areas. The tower can absorb up to 80% of the CO2 present. It has already proven itself in South America. But we have prototyped a model which records very good results, validated by Socotec, intended for industry for its decarbonization through CO2 capture.”

According to these tests, 80% of CO2 would be captured, 45% of Nox, 80% of SO2 and 90% of fine particles. The objective is to ultimately design a device that makes it possible to treat one ton of CO2 and fumes per hour which would generate biomass that might potentially be recovered in the factory circuit in the form of green hydrogen or biomethane.
