Gabriel Jonathan Berón, the 21-year-old who was struck by lightning in St. Louis, broke the silence. He was left with almost 70% of the body burned.
“At the time I didn’t feel anything, the light went out and I woke up in the hospital.”, he said from the hospital bed. And he continued: “I don’t remember anything that happened”.
About the moment before the incident, he said he was walking down the street returning from a friend’s house. That’s when other acquaintances who were in the square called him. “I stayed with them for two seconds under a tree and that’s when the lightning hit me”, he commented.
Jonathan, who left intensive care today, said he was “lucky” since the lightning hit him in the chest. Likewise, he indicated that he had not yet spoken to his friends who accompanied him when the dramatic event occurred.
Now, the young man raises funds to be able to buy an air conditioner when he returns home, so he can continue with his treatment: “It’s to keep the body cool.”. The alias to collaborate is dayana.soledad.1997.
According to the doctors, he will be discharged within six months.
