Owners of OnePlus Open are taking to social media to expose the supposed defects of the foldable smartphone that has arrived to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold5. Reports from users of the device state that the finish of the hinge is being easily damaged, showing scratches and scuffs, a problem that does not occur in rivals.

Additionally, an X user (formerly Twitter) identified as @enough_yt released photos that show a huge black spot on the internal display near the hinge. According to him, the irregularity on the panel appeared on the screen just two hours following purchasing the product, indicating that it was a possible manufacturing flaw in the device.

The OnePlus Open was introduced in October last year as the company’s first foldable. A pioneer in the flexible cell phone segment, Samsung also faced serious problems with its first generation, defects that were progressively resolved in later versions of smartphones.

The phone’s owner did not reveal details regarding the problem. The model comes equipped with advanced specifications including an internal 7.82-inch Flexible AMOLED LTPO external screen with the same quality and size of 6.31 inches, highlighting the 120 Hz refresh rate and 2K image resolution.
