A few days following demonstrating in front of the Carrefour hypermarket in Saint-Clément-de-Rivièreat the northern gates of Montpellier, where customers were approached in the parking lot and asked to no longer come to shop here, pro-Palestinians renewed their action in front of the Carrefour hypermarket in Slatssouth of Montpellier, this Saturday January 6, 2024.
They participated in the campaign Boycott, divestment and sanctions -BDS- which aims to boycott Israel and which also results in demonstrations on the Place de Lima Comédie, in Montpellier.
The campaign promotes economic, academic, cultural and political boycotts once morest Israel, its citizens and other targets. And in this regard, these demonstrators who are carrying out these operations have obviously chosen the wrong targets by attacking these two Carrefour brands a few days apart around Montpellier.
Indeed, following these two actions which caused it significant harm, Carrefour reacted: “The Carrefour Group does not carry out any activity directly in Israel and has no capitalist participation in our franchise partner Yeinot Bitan. The franchise contract is limited to the territory of Israel and excludes the presence of any store under the Carrefour brand in the occupied territories. We insisted: no Carrefour is open in these territories.” That is clear. Complaints were reportedly filed following these actions.
