Ottawa River Ice Rescue: Good Samaritan Saves Driver in Emergency

An Ottawa driver had help from a good Samaritan to get to safety following his vehicle went through the ice on the Ottawa River over the weekend.

Ottawa firefighters responded to the scene near Dunrobin and Opeongo roads following receiving a call late Saturday followingnoon regarding a vehicle that had entered the river and broken ice.

The driver – who was the only occupant of the car – had been helped by a civilian and found himself safe and sound on the bank, firefighters said on X. He was not injured during the events.

However, the authorities were able to notice the vehicle almost submerged in the ice of the river almost 30 meters from the bank, according to the fire safety service of the federal capital.
