To better prevent sources of psychological distress and strengthen support for students’ mental health, the Ministry of Higher Education and Research is launching Cnaé, a free and confidential platform for listening, support, and communication. information and reporting. With this new system, the Government reaffirms its commitment to student life, so that each student can flourish and benefit from a study environment that promotes their success.

Students share common concerns with all French people, to which may be added difficulties that are specific to them: transition to adult life, gradual acquisition of autonomy, distance from family and friends, construction and affirmation of one’s identity and its projects… If the Government acts at the source on many issues – in particular on purchasing power and housing – several supports are also offered to listen to them and take care of their mental health. These include recently strengthened student health services, partnerships with associations such as Nightline, and the Student Psy Health system which offers the possibility of benefiting from eight free consultations with a psychologist, without advance payment. Created in 2021 in response to the needs expressed during the Covid-19 pandemic, to date it has already made it possible to provide 283,000 sessions to more than 57,000 students, thanks to 1,100 psychologists engaged for students in this system.

This new digital tool, the platform Cnaé (National Coordination of Student Support) will be the reference point of contact for all students experiencing a situation of discomfort. It allows you to come into contact with psychologists and social workers who listen and support the students’ freedom of speech if necessary. It will help guide students towards the appropriate resources and pathways, and improve their orientation towards one of the existing systems and actors in the field..

Operated by the association “En Avant Tous” under the aegis of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the Cnaé platform can be reached at 0 800 737 800 and open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
