After Marco Schwarz’s injury at Bormio, Manuel Feller unwillingly became the new leader of Austrian technique. And the Austrian perfectly assumed his new status in Adelboden, winning the slalom with just two hundredths ahead of the Norwegian Atle Lie McGrath, already runner-up to his compatriot Lucas Braathen a year ago.
Fifth in the first round, Manuel Feller also benefited from the elimination following only four gates of the young Norwegian Alexander Steen Olsen, who had won the first round. The “Wunderteam” once once more placed Dominik Raschner (bib 35) on the third step of the podium (23 hundredths behind), he who was only 16th following the morning route. The enthusiastic Swiss public, demanding following Marco Odermatt’s giant demonstration the day before, therefore did not receive the gift they had hoped for from their slalom racers in the Bernese Oberland.
Marc Rochat gets closer to the podium
In Adelboden, Lausannois Marc Rochat signed his second best result in the World Cup, securing a brilliant fifth place (44 hundredths behind the winner). “It’s an extraordinary race, he didn’t miss much for the podium but I’m not going to complain,” he said directly following the race.
His compatriot Luca Aerni also delivered a good second round, moving up from 15th to 8th place. Very smiling in the finish area, the Valaisan believes he is going in the right direction to regain his best level. However, he lacks a hint of consistency. “I have to complete two complete rounds to be at the front.” No miracle for Daniel Yule, winner in 2020 on the Chuenisbärgli, who had to settle for tenth place.
The one who won the slalom in 2020 still has reason to rejoice. Acclaimed by his noisy fan club, he draws the positives from his race and his ranking. “The results and the skiing are there, the last grain of luck is missing,” he analyzed.
Marc Rochat is the author of a very good start to the season. Will he soon reach his first World Cup podium?

Eliminated the day before in giant by losing a ski, Loïc Meillard saved face during the second round of the slalom. Author of the second time on the second route, the skier from Hérémence was able to move up from 21st to 12th place, two ranks ahead of Ramon Zenhäusern, whose big mistake on the final wall cost him dearly (14th at 1”20 ). Haut-Valaisan gave everything to regret nothing. “I finally finished like in the last races, but at least I will have risked something.”
After two top 20 finishes this season between the tight stakes, Geneva’s Tanguy Nef broke his positive streak by riding following only a few gates. The next slalom event is scheduled for next Sunday in Wengen.
