How to control access to files and folders in Mac apps

O Mac allows you to install various applications, not only via the Mac App Store, but also from third parties, such as the web. Therefore, Apple allows you to control which of these apps have permission to access files and folders in specific locations.

Open System Settings (either via Dock, Spotlight, Launchpad or by clicking the Apple menu in the top left corner of the screen). Then go to Privacy and Security » Files and Folders.

Then click on the arrows next to each application to choose what each one can or cannot access.

Remember that, in certain cases, you will need to authenticate using your password or Touch ID (on computers or keyboards with this component).
