What to do if Universal Control on iPad and Mac isn’t working?

iPadOS 15 and macOS Monterey 12, launched just over two years ago, brought a very interesting feature for those who own an iPad and a Mac: the so-called Universal Control (Universal Control).

Through it, you can use a single cursor to control iPadOS and macOS, in addition to transferring images or texts between these devices in a very practical and fast way.

Despite being a very welcome function for those who are already integrated into the Maçã ecosystem, things may not always work as they should. Therefore, below we will show you some tips that can help you with this.

Let’s go?! ????

  • Make sure your iPad and Mac are fully compatible with Universal Control.
  • Make sure both devices are linked to the same Apple ID.
  • The two devices also need to be relatively close to each other. Apple’s recommendation is up to one meter away.
  • Put your iPad and Mac to sleep, and once you “wake them up,” try once more. On the iPad, just press the power button and on the Mac, go to the Apple menu (in the top left corner) and choose “Sleep”.
  • Turn Universal Control off on your iPad and Mac and turn it back on:
    • On iPad, open Settings, tap “General” and then “AirPlay and Handoff”. Then activate “Cursor and Keyboard”.
    • On your Mac, open System Settings, click “Displays” and “Advanced…”. Then, turn on “Allow cursor and keyboard to move to any Mac or iPad Nearby”.
  • Check that Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Handoff are activated on both devices.
  • Make sure your iPad isn’t sharing its cellular data connection and, in the case of your Mac, your internet connection.
  • Disable the Sidecar and try once more.

After these tips, did everything work as it should once more? ????
