German actor Christian Oliver and his two daughters died in a plane crash in the Caribbean. Now the bereaved have made an emotional statement. This was published on the Instagram channel of “WundaBar Pilates”, where Oliver’s wife Jessica Klepser works as regional manager.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic aircraft accident on January 4, 2024, in which our beloved family members lost their lives,” the family said in a statement.
Then Madita (12) and Annik (10), Oliver and Klepser’s children, are remembered. The two filed for divorce in 2021, but it has reportedly not yet been finalized: “Madita, a lively seventh grade student at Louis Armstrong Middle School, was known for her lively spirit and excelled in academic achievement, dancing, singing and performing .»
Great sadness for deceased daughters
“Annik, a fourth-grade student at Wonderland Ave Elementary School, was recognized for her gentle but strong demeanor. She was always the first to offer a kind word or a comforting hug. Her passions included basketball, swimming and various art forms.” It continues: “The deep connection, infectious laughter and adventurous spirit that Madita and Annik share will be sorely missed in their communities.”
Amy Jordan wrote in the statement that it was an “extraordinarily difficult time” for Jessica Klepser, who heads the Los Angeles regional division. The focus is now on helping her, while the family asks for privacy.
Fans collect money for the bereaved
A friend of Klepser’s, Sarah Silverman, set up a donation link for the family. Money is requested in lieu of flowers. “Your donations will help cover the costs of returning Christian and the girls home, funeral and memorial services, and legal costs, and will go a long way toward supporting Jessica and the extended family during this terribly difficult time,” it says on the donation page. As “People” reports, almost $50,000 has already been raised, reaching half of the fundraising goal of $100,000.
Christian Oliver was returning from a Caribbean vacation with his daughters on Thursday when the small plane crashed on the flight from the tourist island of Bequia towards the island state of St. Lucia. The pilot also died. The background to the crash is still unclear.
Oliver also achieved success in Hollywood
Oliver gained fame in Germany primarily through his role in the action series “Alarm for Cobra 11 – The Motorway Police”. He played Chief Inspector Jan Richter alongside “Cobra 11” veteran Erdogan Atalay (57) from 2002 to 2004. Atalay has already commented on the accident: “It is absolutely horrible and my thoughts are with the mother. The idea of being left behind as a parent and having to endure this horror is indescribable.”
Oliver also celebrated international success in front of the camera. For example, he appeared in Steven Soderbergh’s (60) thriller “The Good German – In the Ruins of Berlin” alongside Oscar winners Cate Blanchett (54) and George Clooney (62), as well as in “Operation Walküre – Das Stauffenberg- Assassination attempt” with Tom Cruise (61).
