Jessie Diggins poised for Tour de Ski victory: Alpe Cermis climb awaits

2024-01-06 12:35:54

Jessie Diggins is ideally placed to win her second Tour de Ski following 2021. The 32-year-old American retained the lead before the final stage, the climb of Alpe Cermis, following a classic 15 km dominated by the Swedes.

It was Linn Svahn who won on Saturday in Val di Fiemme, 0.4 seconds ahead of her compatriot Frida Karlsson. Eighth at 5”7, Jessie Diggins will approach the final stage with a margin of around 50 seconds over her rivals in the general standings.

In the absence of Nadine Fähndrich, Davos’ Désirée Steiner achieved the best Swiss result with a 16th place. Nadja Kälin finished 21st in a race in which only 32 cross-country skiers took part.
