Huawei is continuing its efforts begun with its HarmonyOS operating system, which should arrive on all of its products. This is the case with the Huawei Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro, which are seeing the HarmonyOS 4 beta land.

Since 2019, Huawei has been developing its own operating system, HarmonyOS, which can be found in its smartphones, televisions and even connected watches. For several months, the latest version is the fourth: it arrives in beta on the Huawei Watch 3, Huawei Watch 3 Pro and Huawei Watch 3 Pro New (which is not available in France).

HarmonyOS 4 in beta on two Huawei connected watches

As reported Huawei Central, the brand has started a recruitment program with its customers in order to test the beta of HarmonyOS 4.0. A program available on three of its connected watches: the Watch 3, the Watch 3 Pro as well as the Watch 3 Pro New. A beta which is only open in China for the moment and with a limited number of places. The beta will be installed from January 16 on the watches included in the program.

The idea is naturally to have access to new features, although the watches were already released under the same operating system. The update appears to add a new live window feature, lock screen animations, and additional 3D gaming watch faces. Furthermore, personalization will go a little further. HarmonyOS 4 is also an opportunity for the manufacturer to make some optimizations.

HarmonyOS 4 is already integrated into many products

With the opening of this beta, we can have the impression that Huawei is starting with this fourth version. This is not the case, since worldwide, more than 100 million devices operate under this version. The operating system is mainly deployed on the brand’s smartphones. And for HarmonyOS overall, Huawei indicated in August that it had equipped more than 700 million devices.

However, HarmonyOS 4 will give way to another operating system: HarmonyOS NEXT, unveiled last November by the company. The idea: move further away from Android by making Android applications incompatible. The final version will arrive later this year.
