Petro de Luanda, national champion, will complete a short pre-competitive internship in Portugal in the coming days, due to the Girabola 2023/2024 break, the National Football Championship.
The internal competition was interrupted due to the participation of the National Team, in the African Nations Championship (CAN), taking place from January 13th to February 11th, in Côte d’ Ivoire.
The restart of Girabola will depend on the performance of Palancas Negras in the competition organized by the African Football Confederation (CAF), the first phase of the competition ends on the 26th of this month.
The tricolors provided four players to the Angolan team, namely Kinito, Tó Carneiro, Eddie Afonso and Gilberto.
In Girabola 2023/2024, Petro de Luanda occupies second place with 17 points, four less than the leader Kabuscorp do Palanca.
This season, Portuguese coach Alexandre Santos’ men are also involved in the group stage of the Champions Clubs League.
Petro de Luanda leads group C with eight points, five more than Espérance de Tunis.
Étoile du Sahel from Tunisia occupies third place with four points, the same score as Al-Hilal Omdurman from Sudan, in the ‘red lantern’.
