More than 20 people poisoned by carbon monoxide in Mormon church – news

Firefighters from the North American city of Monroe checked the building and found high levels of carbon monoxide, and the church was evacuated. Twenty-two people were hospitalized this weekend following carbon monoxide poisoning in a Mormon church , in central Utah, in the United States.

Emergency medical teams responded to two calls from the church in the city of Monroe, the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office said, reports the Associated Press (AP).

The first victims were a four-year-old girl, complaining of respiratory failure, and a man who was feeling unwell. Meanwhile, a family that was experiencing severe headaches also called emergency medical teams.

Monroe city firefighters then checked the building and found high levels of carbon monoxide, and the church was evacuated.

The local police said, cited by AP, that several other people, totaling 22 people, became ill.

They were all taken to area hospitals to receive treatment. So far, the causes of the incident are unknown.
