In the province of Namur, one of the most affected villages is that of Annevoie. In question: a dike would have been broken. Residents point the finger at the responsibility of the owners of the Annevoie gardens.
Our on-site journalist, Christophe Clément, explains: “It is therefore time for cleaning, but also for understanding the phenomenon. Local residents point to a dike built a little higher than the village. A dike built by the former owner of the Annevoie gardens estate. (…) This dike would have failed, releasing water from the stream, but also large quantities of mud and rubble. (…) Residents now hope to be compensated for the damage, but also that this phenomenon cannot happen once more.“.
On the side of local residents, the anger is obviously enormous. This is particularly the case for Claudine: “This is the fourth time this has happened. I had 60 cm of water in my house, it’s the biggest flood I’ve had. This has to stop, I can’t take it anymore“, she explains.
