Two years before its actual release, the future iPhone 17 is already the subject of persistent rumors regarding it.

Logically expected for the end of 2025, the next iPhone 17 is already the subject of rumors which make it possible to draw up the first technical details on some of its features.

Better quality selfies with the iPhone 17?

It is the analyst well known to Apple fans, Ming-Chi Kuo, who begins the year by delivering his various predictions for this future model, which might once once more be divided into several models, but one of which particularities would concern the camera on the front.

Whether you are a fan of selfies or not, the sensor on the front of the smartphone has remained unchanged since the iPhone 11. It is 12 megapixels, regardless of whether you have an iPhone, an iPhone Plus, or even a iPhone Pro Max.

Compared to the competition, Apple has therefore not made any concrete efforts, instead contenting itself with developing its rear sensors. But this era might well be over, since the American company is preparing for a major modification “significantly improving the quality” of the photos that you can take without having to turn your smartphone.

From there to imagining a doubling of megapixels, there is only one step that would not necessarily be difficult to take. Because for several months, Apple has allowed you to use your iPhone as a webcam on your Mac. For professional and personal use, a better quality sensor would therefore be a good way to communicate more regarding this feature launched with iOS 17.

The iPhone 16 in the crosshairs

But this is not the only prediction launched by Ming-Chi Kuo. The analyst is secondly interested in the iPhone 16 – planned for the end of 2024. The iPhone 16 Pro might thus be equipped with a periscopic lens, like the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Until now, this feature was reserved for Pro Max.

Both models would also benefit from a 48 megapixel sensor for ultra wide angle. Enough to improve your photos.
