He has made the taste for adventure his vocation and also savors it in his private life. Jérémie Gerber, a soldier in the Army, husband and father living in the town of Salles (Gironde), is preparing to get on his motorcycle to race the Dakar Rally-raid in the category Original by Motul, without assistance, from January 5. Objective: finish this race in 12 stages of nearly 700 kilometers in the dunes and desert rocks of Senegal.

A passionate motorcycle enthusiast who managed to place 24th out of 110 in his category during the Rally of Morocco in 2023 (accompanied by Nomade racing assistance), the thirty-year-old is taking part in his first Dakar under the flags of his association, To Lucky Drive Racing. His ambition? Take a war wounded person to his bivouac in his mad rush. If the affair was not possible on this first Dakar for “personal reasons» and because it belongs to a category without assistance, Jérémie Gerber fully intends to see this project come to fruition over the coming years.

Go beyond the possible

In love with “the feeling of speed and crossing», which he enjoys on his KTM 450 cylinder, an Austrian two-wheeler built for rally circuits, Jérémie Gerber’s primary ambition is to complete his race. “You have to be concentrated, remain lucid throughout, be physically strong and listen to your body… Even if it means slowing down on certain stages to go to the end», confides the soldier.

Mechanic of the apprehensive resourcefulness “a mechanical breakage or a fall that might damage your motorcycle» (which in this case he would have to repair alone), the adventurer can however count on the unfailing support of his wife and his toddler who, at two years old, already articulates: “Dad, ride a motorcycle (sic)“. A fuel which should help him, between two points 150 kilometers away on the Senegalese dunes, to go beyond what is possible.
