Two days following Quebec’s new warning regarding the situation in the province’s emergencies, Jacques Lapierre recalls that Quebec has 2,000 hospitalizations for COVID-19.

The effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine limits the risks of hospitalization, he stressed in an interview on LCN.

“The vaccines are very effective. We still saved millions of lives with COVID vaccines.”

The retired virologist is, however, sad to see a slowdown in the vaccination effort in the province.

“Because of the COVID vaccination, we had to come forward several times for vaccination, people are starting to get a little tired of getting vaccinated. People believe less that the vaccine is effective,” he said.

As New Year’s celebrations continue, people should avoid attending a family gathering in the event of infection with a respiratory virus, remind Quebec and Mr. Lapierre.

“Even though it’s the holiday season, it’s definitely New Year’s Day today, people want to go see family, but if there’s someone who doesn’t feel not well, stay at home,” he continues.
