“The resolution has been taken following the countless breaches of the current contract”

According to what was learned, a total of 8 million dollars had to be paid, which was divided into two installments. The first, unfulfilled before December 30, was the main reason for the city to lose the right to organize the event.

“Given the lack of response once the new deadline has passed, the Executive Committee of Panam Sports, on January 3, 2024, has made the unwavering determination to withdraw the right to be the host city of the continental event in 2027,” it reads. the official statement of the organization.

The failure to make payments has caused a stir in several sectors, since for a couple of years the city had been ‘bidding’ to keep the headquarters. It even competed, as usual, with other cities in South America.

Now it remains to wait who will take Barranquilla’s place. On this Wednesday morning it was learned that Asunción was the city that had the best chance of winning the event. However, official communication from Panam Sports is expected, which, due to the times, should be soon.
