  • The Austrian Jan Hörl wins the 3rd competition of the Four Hills Tournament in Innsbruck.
  • At the top of the overall ranking, the Japanese Ryoyu Kobayashi (2nd) replaces the German Andreas Wellinger (5th) as leader.
  • Gregor Deschwanden takes 24th place, Simon Ammann misses the final round (39th).

The 3rd competition of the Four Hills Tournament caused a change at the top of the overall ranking. Ryoyu Kobayashi will travel to the final in Bischofshofen on Saturday as leader. As in the previous two competitions in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Japanese took second place in Innsbruck (128.5 m/132 m).

The two-time tour winner only had to admit defeat to Jan Hörl on Bergisel. The Austrian was already in the lead following the first round and withstood the pressure in the final round (134 m/127.5 m). Behind Hörl and Kobayashi, the Austrian Michael Hayböck completed the podium.

The previous tour leader Andreas Wellinger had to settle for 5th place in Tyrol. In the overall ranking he is now 4.8 points behind Kobayashi, which is only around 2.5 meters.

Deschwanden falls behind

Gregor Deschwanden put on a mixed performance. After the Lucerne native missed the final round of the New Year’s competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Swiss team leader confidently made it into the second round in Innsbruck thanks to a flight of 129 m.

On the second jump, however, Deschwanden touched down following 113.5 m in difficult conditions and lost a lot of ground. The 32-year-old fell from 16th place to 24th place.

Simon Ammann was not in the final of the top 30. The Toggenburger (113 m) clearly lost the duel once morest Hayböck (131 m) and had no chance of getting one of the lucky loser places. The 42-year-old finished in 39th place.
