Turkish Police Arrest 56 Suspects Wanted Internationally for Drug and Human Trafficking

Fifty-six people, wanted by eighteen countries, suspected in particular of drug and human trafficking, were arrested on Wednesday January 3 in Turkey, announced the Turkish Interior Ministry.

The suspects, arrested in eleven of the 81 Turkish provinces, including those of Istanbul (Northwest), Antalya (South) and Izmir (West), were sought in particular by the United States, Germany, India, Israel, Russia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, the ministry said in a statement.

International wanted notice

Some were the subject of a red notice, an international wanted notice issued by Interpol. The charges relate to homicides, pimping, money laundering or membership in a criminal organization.

“We are going to put them all in a cage, one by one”wrote Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya on the social network.

In recent months, the Turkish police have increased their number of raids once morest members of international organized crime, some of whom had found refuge in Turkey for a long time.
