Jean Noel Ndour and Woury Dia were mentioned yesterday, at the bar of the Dakar flagrante delictos court. The two acolytes are brought to justice by Ndella Madior Diouf. They are accused of having kidnapped a three-month-old baby, one to save his household and complete his deception and the other for financial gain. Placed under arrest warrant on December 15, 2023, they risk 2 years of imprisonment including 6 months.
On December 13, 2023, the Special Cybersecurity Division received a complaint from the lady Ndella Madior Diouf. From the basis of the said complaint, she accuses Jean Noel Ndour and Wouri Dia of having removed, without her knowledge, a baby from her nursery, for purposes unknown to her, hence her decision to take legal action . During her hearing, the complainant declared that on the night of December 9 to 10, 2023, she noticed the disappearance of the baby, aged three (03) months, from her Sos Santé Keur Yeurmandé nursery. Immediately, her suspicions were focused on the name Woury Dia, who, a few days earlier, had questioned her for the adoption of a baby, with the aim of making her husband established in France believe that she had gave birth to a newborn. In addition, she indicates that the latter was helped by one of her security guards called Jean Noel Ndour because of the latter’s unprecedented and unjustified absence since then.
Summoned and heard regarding the facts, the accused confesses everything. Immediately admitted having given the baby to Woury Dia at his request. Indeed, according to her statement, for two weeks, the name Woury had presented herself every day at the nursery, lamenting, crying and begging the director to allow her to bring a newborn to her home, to deceptively show her husband, whom she had led to believe that she was pregnant, that she now has a baby. This is how they arranged to meet at the Cambérène Health Post, maintains the security guard, where he handed over the infant to Woury, in exchange for collecting the sum of 65,000 CFA francs.
Presented to the judges of the Dakar flagrante delictos court, Jean Noel defends himself first. A painter by trade, the father said he did this because the lady told him that Ndela Madior would have asked him for 4 million in exchange for an infant. For the photo taken without the knowledge of a lady who has recently given birth, he finally admits to having done it but always out of empathy. As for Woury, she said: “I had a miscarriage and I didn’t tell my husband. Eventually, I had to find a baby. I’ve been there five times. Ndela asked me to donate to adopt. I didn’t have enough money. I didn’t know the child was from the nursery,” she defends straight away.
However, the representative of the public prosecutor regrets the use of the child to save a household. The prosecutor requires two years for this purpose, including 6 months once morest the two defendants with a fine of 200 thousand CFA francs. The defense lawyers in turn requested leniency from the court, citing the essence of the case which saved at least 40 children. However, Woury and Jean will have to be patient. The judge will deliver his deliberations on January 9.
